We're currently working on a new zine issue and accepting submissions! The theme is FIRE. See our call for submissions below.
The heat, the burning, the smoke: we look for creative approaches to how the fire imagery and narratives centered around fire function in contemporary society, especially for marginalized voices. Climate crisis, witch hunts, the everpresent burnout in late capitalism, the political uses of fire, self-immolation, burning down cops' cars and throwing Molotov cocktails, fighting fire with fire, rising from the ashes, but also the burning desires – tell us your stories of light and darkness.
What’s burning inside of you? Anchoring our theme in the body, we’re searching for narratives of fever and inflammation. While the intensity of the flames is often associated with anger, we want to include images and narratives centered around fire that focus on love and community care instead. Images of a fire, a blaze, or smoke do not need to be present directly, but we hope they will inspire your piece.
Send us your essays, short stories, poems, articles, notes, diary entries, comics, collages, photographs, and drawings. We’re also interested in works that employ fire as a technique or part of the process. As always, we want to explore the theme from the perspective of women, girls, and queer people. FIRE will mark a decade of Girls and Queers to the Front initiative. We plan to publish the zine in early Spring. Follow that spark and submit your work!

✧ Please make sure that your illustrations have at least 300 dpi, 3 millimeters / 0,12-inch bleeds, are in CMYK, preferably .jpg, and can be printed in the A5 format. We’ll print our zines in full color.
✧ The zine is published in both English and Polish. If you’re bilingual and are able to translate your own piece, let us know. If you want to help us with translations – please reach out!
✧ We are accepting poetry (up to 5 poems) as well as short prose, essays, and other texts (up to 8,000 characters, including spaces). Please submit your works in a text format (e.g., .docx, .rtf).
✧ We plan to publish the zine in Spring 2025.
